Meat and poultry recall

If you have any of prepared foods from Gourmet Boutique, Archer Farms, or Jan's throw them away! They may be contaminated with Listeria, which is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, young children, and people with depressed immune systems.

What is this, like the third meat recall since the new year began? I think the appropriate organizations need to get their acts together and start checking these companies out more often.

Thanks for this announcement. I can't tell if the appropriate departments aren't doing their jobs and that's why there are so many recalls. Or if they are on the ball finding out these problems early (that's why no one has gotten sick, they found the contamination) and that's why they know about the bad foods and that's why there are so many recalls.

Hmmm, Archer Farms is sold by Target. Can't say I buy their meat products though. They are super expensive normally. And although I am disgusted by the recalls as well, I know early settlers ate plenty of rotted or almost rotten meat and many survived anyway. Three recalls in 5 months isn't too bad, so long as they don't get more frequent.

purple, yes early settlers and many in other countries with insufficient refrigeration eat meat that is questionable, but they also grew up eating that. If they made it through childhood, they built a resistance to common food-borne illness. But many didn't (and still don't) make it through childhood. Diarrhea caused by tainted food or water is the number 1 worldwide killer of young children.

Thanks for the warning. It seems to be happening too often.
