Subject: would you tell

Lets say you were ill, and traditional " white coat" medicine was not doinga s well as you had hoped, and you found a doctor that empoyed a combination of all type sof medicine, WC, integrative, holistic, nutritional.

And youknwe that your insurabnce company or doctor woudl drop you if they found out that you were getting better on this type of medicine, would you tell anyone and risk loosing insurance?

That's a tough call and I think for me it would depend on exactly what was wrong with me. Losing your insurance is a bad thing but so is medication interactions if you are not disclosing everything while seeing multiple doctors.

Why would they drop you from your insurance? I don't see how or why that would happen. Sure they might make you pay more for refusing conventional treatment, but they wouldn't drop you for getting better on alternative medicine! If your illness was under control, that's what is important to them.

This is the first time I heard that insurance company will drop you for trying holistic, nutritional medicines etc. I'm pretty sure they won't want to lose a loyal customer who tries any medicines prescribed by a doctor which I believe is quite safe.

I really don't think they would drop you for paying out of pocket to use an alternative method. They most likely couldn't legally do so unless they think it has caused a new condition which you didn't have the last time you saw their doctor.

No one will really drop you, this is just a hypothetical situation that I've seen discussed elsewhere.

I would get the better treatment and keep it too myself personally.

I don't know. Hard question. You do what you have to do to survive though!

I guess it is all on the individual and what kind of treatment they want to get. I do not see any problem with seeking other forms of treatment. Some insurance programs though will not cover it.

What do you think?
