Subject: Wisdom teeth

How many people have already had their wisdom teeth pulled?

My bottom 2 are popping in- and it hurts. But sometimes only for a couple of hours, sometimes for days. Then it goes away and comes back a month or so from then.

Is everyone supposed to get them taken out? I have no dental insurance right now- and am trying to hold off until January- when I will get it again.

I had mine removed when I was 28. They had abscessed by then and I was in a significant amount of pain, and the month it took to schedule it sure didn't help that much! I believe that eventually they do "go bad" in most everyone. My husband just had his removed a few months ago and he was nearly 40 at the time. If they are starting to hurt though you will need to get them taken care of as soon as possible before the pain become unbearable.

I have never had mine removed, though I think i am at a risk of my mouth becoming over crowded. i do need to visit the dentist, but I wouldnt really want them removed, just because I would hate the pain!!!

They actually don't go bad in everyone. My aunt still has her's at around 58, along with two baby teeth. Not your average person, but it is possible with long roots and missing adult teeth, her wisdom teeth replace some of the adult molars she didn't have.

They don't always go bad but when they do they can be a nightmare of pain. A friend of mine swelled up so she looked like a chipmunk. She had an emergency visit with the dentist if solve the problem because the pain was debilitating. I still have mine and worry a little about suffering the same fate.

I had mine removed at 16. All of them. The surgery isn't bad and the pain is only like a 3 on the pain scale. lol

I had mine removed one at a time. I waited until I needed them taken out. I really don`t remember how old I was. I hate toothaches. I would rather give birth again.

Thank goodness I have never had any trouble with my wisdom teeth, so far. My cousin had all 4 of hers took out at the same time. Her face was so swelled.
