Subject: What do you think of going to a family practice Dr?

I for one miss the days of having one Dr for everyone in the family. I am so tired of giving my or my children's entire history almost every time we go to the Dr. Family practice was just so great but my current insurance of course doesn't cover it.

What are your opinions on this?

George

My health insurance insists on a Primary Doctor who is the one who has to OK your going to other doctors. I picked my health insurance company mainly because the doctor that I have been with for almost twenty-five years is part of that network.

I really like having one doctor who knows my history, and he knows my parents' histories too. He had taken care of all of us over the years.

I would hate to have to go to a different doctor every time for all my less important medical needs.

Is there any way that you can request one doctor from the place you go to and make certain to see only that one every time you go there?

I prefer to have one doctor for the whole family, too, but there aren't any like that in my area. My doctor won't take under-18 people so my kids had to have a different doctor.

we don't have a family doctor as we use Kaiser, but we still end up repeating certain medical and lifestyle histories each time we access our medical care.

I have simply started refusing to answer certain questions.

We go to a family practice doctor and love it! It makes for a much better doctor-patient relationship. Of course there are situations when you might need a specialist, but until those creep up, a family practice doctor is the way to go if you can!

We also go to a family practise, with everyone under the same place. I think that they are less pushy than paediatricians, give you more say in yours and your child's treatment and that is definitely a plus.

It's a very good idea to have one doctor for the entire family, but that seem to have become outdated over a period of time, people are not even going to the same doctor regularly anymore.

I like family practice physicians. I like that you can establish a family connection which sometimes can lead to issues being caught early that without full family exposure could be overlooked.
