Subject: The Good Side Of Rising Gas Prices

My friends always complain about how horrible it is to buy gas lately. They find that they have to cut down on driving because they just can't afford to fill up on gas anymore.

I found this article in Remedy Magazine and thought I'd share it with you here.

"Gas prices killing your budget? They could also be saving your life. A recent study says that a 20 percent hike in gas prices equals 2,500 fewer deaths from car crashes and air pollution."

It's not much to make you feel better about when your wallet is empty after buying gas, but it is something positive to think about.

Maybe more lives will be saved as people start to walk and bike instead of using their cars for all the smaller trips they have to do.

At least there is something even a little positive in this mess.

So there is a positve side to the rise in gas prices!!!

Its good that more people are walking around and getting a bit of fresh air and exercise.

I have been a walker for a long time anyway and I don't even own a car, so I am not affected by this hugely. And honestly I haven't noticed much of a change in my town, in fact yesterday when I walked to town I was the only person on the footpath the whole way. A half hour walk and I didn't see a single other pedestrian.

I dont think these positive sides are enough to cover up negative sides.

Well again,

I have to say that quality of life is as important, as how healthy it seems to those not living it.

For those who are unable to get around, due to health problems, without a vehicle, it is an inexcusable blow.

I guess it's one way to cut down on our petroleum addiction...lol. Perhaps more people will see the benefits of mass transportation like buses or trains, too. I'd love to see train service extend further north than it does in my area.

The only people "addicted" to petroleum are the oil companies.

It was interesting that the word "addiction" was chosen by the president. It is another one of those "blame the people we are screwing over" maneuvers.

The word is over used.
