Do you throw away the stuff that you or your children are no longer using? I try to pass on the things that are still good to other people and then throw out the stuff that can't be reused, in the past I have stored things for years.

We too in our house store old stuff, especially children clothes which young nieces and nephews can wear. Many toys are also kept. I don't see a reason for throwing perfectly good stuff.

Good for you guys, this is very practical. I hate how people throw things just because they think they are old, but they are still 100% usable.

I think it's good to purge your own space every few years, but always in a recycling kind of way, like passing it on to someone else who can use it.

I recently did some work for a 96 year old man and his house was scary. He literally had piles and piles and piles of stuff all over the place and it was filthy. He used his dishwasher as a pantry and his stovetop had so many miscellaneous papers on it, there's no way it could be used for anything else. He said he knew where all his things were and didn't like to get ride of anything in case he might need it later. Ironically, seeing his house encouraged me to go home and get rid of some crap I didn't really need.
