Subject: Stretching

I recently pulled a muscle really bad and was advised by my doctor to stretch regularly. Something I've never really taken the time to do. Does anyone know a good series of daily stretches that don't require any special equipment and don't take up too much time?

My physical therapist told me the same thing. But, I lost the paperwork she gave me. So I googled stretching and found a web site that has been helpful to me, in determining exactly which stretches I need to do. This site actually shows you diagrams of how to do the stretches properly so you don't hurt yourself. Here is the link, I hope it helps;http://www.womensheart.org/content/Exercise/stretching_exercise.asp

Thanks for the link. I took a look at it and it was very easy to understand. I'm going to work with that and see how much difference it makes. Thanks again.

It's very important to not only start the beginning of exercise with stretches, but also to start the day with stretches. It gives your muscles a chance to wake up and keeps you flexible.

I'm going to have to start dragging myself out of bed a little earlier to stretch. I am not a morning person. I know it isn't the best way to start the day but I usually get out of bed last minute. A quick wash up and dress up followed by a cup of coffee and maybe some food and I'm on my way to work.

Are you guys talking about stretching other than before exercise? I never thought about doing general stretches. Is it recommended for everyone or just certain conditions?

That's a very good site you linked us to, thanks. I am going to bookmark it to use. I have always wondered though if I am supposed to stretch before I exercise or after. I thought stretching was a way after relaxing the muscles after exercising them.
