Subject: Stress Management

How do you keep stress in check, especially when things around you are just going crazy? When you don't have time to even stop and get yourself food most days, how can you take time to unwind?

I try to always have food ready or available where I can just grab something. For the stress factors, I just let some things slide. At least the ones that have the least repercussions. I also try to appeal to those close to me for help.

I normally stop for a while and take stock of the things that are demanding my time. I think delegate things if necessary or ask to meet deadlines at a later date.

It can be really hard. The only thing I can really suggest is that you use the time that you do have to make sure you get enough sleep. Everything else is easier to deal with when you are not exhausted.

You can make sure that you take full advantage of what little time you have. For instance, if you have the time to shower, use it, don't sit in front of the tv and then have to rush. Don't add unneeded stressful factors, such as making overly involved meals. Just try and keep things simple.

You would be surprised how much just taking a minute to do a few deep breaths can revive you and allow you to relax a bit. Most of the time, people need to work on how they react to stressors as it can be hard to reduce stress if its coming from outside of your control. The best thing for me is to ask myself if what I am getting stressed out about is something that will matter next month or next year? Quite often, you'll realize that it's not as big a thing as you were thinking.

I work in customer service and sometimes there are some people that, no matter how much you smile and how polite you are, they don't deserve to be served. Add to this a fast paced, detailed job and things get stressful. Add to that life in general and it can be almost unbearable. Sometimes you just have to step back, take a deep breath, excuse yourself, go to the bathroom and scream.

It's very difficult for me, sometimes even now I feel as if everything is falling apart. I shed some of the things that are more time consuming that does not necessarily add much value.

I too can struggle with this from time to time. There are certain events that trigger close to panic attacks, and yet I just barely manage to hold them off. I need to learn some better techniques myself.

I think we all tend to struggle with this thing called stress. Some days are always better than others, and we will all have our off days, but trying to remember the good that comes from what we learn each day helps us to the next.
