Subject: | Sports drinks | |
I drink sports drinks on occasion when I do heavy exercise and think they are good to a point but I really don't think they are all they are cracked up to be. Most of the time I find them too sweet. I have heard that a pinch of salt in some orange juice does about as much good. When I am out cycling I find that small snacks like trail mix and sufficient water maybe some juice or milk along with good meals will keep me in action all day. What really hits the spot though after a long hard work out is an ice cold beer. |

I agree with you on sports drinks. I think that usually plain old water is the best way to rehydrate for me, and I don't really want to spend extra $$ on flavored water. I find them too sweet as well sometimes. |

I only like 2 types of gatorade and the poweage I think it is, most of those taste watered down except for the red kind. Are any of these really good for us though? |

The sports drinks are okay as an occasional beverage but they are bad for the kids who are drinking them all the time. They can actually overdo on some of the vitamins/minerals and harm the kidneys among other things. They are not supposed to be used all the time. |

I like a couple of kinds of gatorade, but I only drink it once in a while. My ex went though gallons of the stuff, but that gets really expensive(and I don't think it should replace water anyhow!) |

Can they also harm adults just the same? I know a weight lifter friend of mine that drinks nothing but then all the time, even when he is not working out. |
