Help! I didn't see a category for allergies and sinus but my eyes are so full of pollen I may have overlooked. Does anyone have any tips, herbs, suggestions for dealing with HORRIBLE allergy problems? I take Clartin but it is not doing the trick lately. I'm trying to avoid a visit to the allergist - $$ is very tight right now. My head aches, my eyes itch, etc. |

My friend recommends Benadryl for allergies and sinus. Have you tried that yet? It seems to be effective.. |

Benadryl works well but makes me very drowsy. I have been in the same boat as you this season; having took Claritin my whole life and now it seems in-effective. I just made the switch to Zyrtec and it seems to be a little more affective. |

I use the generic target brand allergy medicine, and it seems to do the trick. |

Years ago my doctor suggested Chlortrimaton, or the generic name chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg. It works really well, doesn't make me sleepy, doesn't make my blood pressure rise and I give you the generic name because you can get it at that vitamin place that sells you two bottles and you get three more for the price. Check the Internet. |

I also use Chlor Trimeton for my allergies and it works great. Another thing you can try is to find some locally produced honey. That can help build up your immunity to certain pollens if taken regularly. I hope they get better but I definitely can relate with you. George |

I use Claritin when I get really bad, otherwise I use regular Alavert (or the generic) or benadryl (or the generic) depending on if I can be drowsy or not. I also make sure to shower after I get inside to wash the pollen off my hair and body, and change clothes. Otherwise I can lay awake all night sniffling. |

my daughter likes Claritin. My hubby likes the non drowsy bendryl. My daughter uses for her eyes plain visine then allergy visine. They work well. The non drowsy bendryl works well enough where you can drive and function. |
