I am not a fan of sleeping pills, simply because of the possible side effects. I have never tried them and always look for alternatives to sleeplessness and perhaps look at what is causing me to loose sleep in the first place.

The best thing to do is pick up an OTC brand at the beginning of the weekend, or whenever you will be away from work and not have to leave the house for a couple of days. Try the recommended dose to see how you feel the next day.

Life is too short to go without sleep. Take a sleep aid if you need to.

Don't take them even if you can't fall asleep. It can be addictive and who know what might happen when you takes them regularly. Get yourself a glass of milk as it will make you sleep easier.

I take them each night to help me sleep. When the Dr first suggested them I was afraid becoming addicted as well but the Dr told me that if it is something you are worried about and are conscious are then you have a better chance of not becoming addicted. She told me that the folks that often get addicted don't take them as prescribed.

I know several people who do use them and really rely on them to go to sleep. I can not seem to fall asleep before 7am and have to be up by 11am so I only wish I could use them but they just make me dizzy.

My sister uses melatonin supplements in lieu of pharmaceutical sleeping pills with great success. You can get melatonin supplements OTC at most natural food and drug stores.
