I've often suffered from pins and needles but I don't really understand them. What causes the problem, and is there any danger to it?

Depends on where you are getting the pins and needles. I often get pins and needles on the inside edge of both of my feet especially the big toe. I happen to know it is because of a bulged disc at the S1 location in my lower back. It is not a good thing. It means I'm getting some inflammation and if it gets worse I could get excruciating back spasms.

Sometimes though it just seems to be caused because you're sat funny-so does that mean that you are somehow putting pressure on a nerve somewhere? Is it dangerous?

I always thought it was a circulation issue and thats why I have gotten them where I have some stretch marks (growth spurt as a teen caused them). It doesn't bother me much though maybe twice a year?

Pins and needles sensations can be caused by nerve issues or circulatory issues. If it's happening frequently, it never hurts to ask the doctor just to be sure. Sometimes it can be a early warning sign of serious issues with veins and arteries becoming blocked.

Is there any way to tell the difference between circulation issues and those for nerve issues only? I mean by yourself of course, not with a doctor I am aware that a doc could tell. :)
