Subject: | Most Unusual Funeral | |
I've attended several funerals many of which have been for friends or family whose faith was different than my own. Last week I attended the funeral of a co-worker's mother who had died unexpectedly. At the visitation, family members were off to the side visiting with one another and no one acknowledged visitors who came to the funeral home. The funeral service was opened with a slide show of the mother shown with a rock and roll song in the back ground that talked about throwing her in a hole and shoving her in the ground. Perhaps this song was a request of the mother but, personally, I found it disrespectful. |

That is rather an unusual funeral. I have thankfully never heard of, nor had to attend anything quite like it and of that I am glad-I'm not quite sure how I would have reacted in your position. |

My goodness, that sounds horrible for a funeral. If the mother requested that kind of funeral maybe something was wrong with her. I can just imagine your shock at the time. |

ALbeit this funeral is indeed quite weird I think it's great that there's so many different funeral customs around the world. I actually like the more celebratory and festive customs like you can find among the Irish, Creole and many natives. Why any gloom when the deceased is at a better place now? |
