Subject: Hunter's Safety Classes

My nephew and I are visiting my in-laws in Colorado. My father-in-law has been trying to get me to do a hunter's safety class for years. He and his wife are huge hunters and have even gone to New Zealand and Africa. I've never hunted myself, but I've decided to go ahead and do the class. It teaches about all kinds of things, like how not to get lost, how to hold a gun without shooting off your foot, and other help pieces of information.

There are classes for almost everyone and a safety class is never a bad thing to take. I had actually taken one before my first child was born, so yes they really do have them for everything. They are there for a reason and never think its lame to go to one, you would be surprised what you can learn.

I've attended several funerals many of which have been for friends or family whose faith was different than my own. Last week I attended the funeral of a co-worker's mother who had died unexpectedly. At the visitation, family members were off to the side visiting with one another and no one acknowledged visitors who came to the funeral home. The funeral service was opened with a slide show of the mother shown with a rock and roll song in the back ground that talked about throwing her in a hole and shoving her in the ground. Perhaps this song was a request of the mother but, personally, I found it disrespectful.

Oops, sorry about the above post. I typed it under the wrong topic, must have been a brain fart. What I meant to say was:

Sounds like a good idea for both you and your nephew, especially if you think you might join them on a hunt in the future, even if it's as an observer. I would love to go on a picture safari of Africa.

Safety classes for anything dangerous is always a good idea. Hunting means carrying a weapon that is potentially lethal. Besides that you usually have to do it out in the wilderness where you must know how to take care of yourself.

I love these classes. I don't hunt myself but these are very interesting. It's just like boy scouts but for grownups. You can learn a lot of useful things :)

Yeah, plus I wouldn't my nephew or I to have our own Dick Cheney incident. :)

My husband and I had to do a recent First Aid/Oxygen/Defibrillator class as part of Rescue Scuba Diver training. That was really interesting and now, if I need to, I could use one of those defibrillators like you see everywhere these days.

What do you think?
