Subject: | How easy is it to catch a cold? | |
I spent most of this past week at the hospital because my hubby had to have an unexpected surgery. While there I wasn't in close contact with anyone who had a cold or virus that I'm aware of. However, I did have to walk through the emergency room several times because it was closer for me to park in the ER parking lot. Now I have a sore throat and have been feeling achy and stuffy for a couple of days. Could I have caught a cold just by walking through the same room that had many sick people in it? |

I thank it's more likely that you were more open to catching an infection because you were upset and rundown, worrying about your husband. It is possible to breath in something from the air, but it is even more likely that you touched something that a person with a cold touched. Then you touched your face and the bacteria got into your body that way. Always wash your hands a lot when surrounded by sick people. You also can do your best to keep far away from people who seem to be spewing germs into the air by coughing and sneezing. Eat hot bowls of spicy chicken soup and you'll be better soon. I hope your husband is OK too. |

Skatss is right about that. You were probably run down and tired from worrying about your husband and that makes you more susceptable to colds. I hope your husband is doing good now! |

I am sorry to hear that you have to deal with a cold while your hubby is recovering. Just make sure to take it easy for a bit while you nurse your cold and hopefully it will be gone in a few days:) There is no doubt your state of being run down contributed to the cold. |

We're exposed to so much daily, that it could just be a coincidence or, as others have said, just being stressed. Stress is a killer, and it will get you sick. |

I notice that when I am more upset or worried it seems I tend to get colds as well. I do not know why it happens, but it does. |

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I survived the cold and my hubby is doing better. However, he still is having some stomach pain that seems to be lingering on. Hopefully, it will go away very soon. |
