Just about the most embarrassing thing there is in the world. Well, I just ruptured a haemorrhoid, and it bled like a beastie.

Other than controlling the bleeding, is there anything else I need to do?

(other than be embarrassed that I just had to post this....)

I am not really sure what would be best to do in this situation as I have never been there myself. I would try to be as comfy as possible and not agitate it to make it worse.

If you have ruptured one I would be going to see a Dr. There is definitely a risk of infection especially considering the "location" of it. It is always a good idea to have the Dr check things like this out. This is not something I would put off but that is just me.

No need for embarrassment. Lots of folks have to deal with them every day.

I had a friend, years ago, that had a huge hemorrhoid that tended to rupture from time to time. She finally had to go to a doctor and get it removed. It simply just never got better on its own and she suffered for years with the pain and bleeding before she got it fixed.

I know it's the last thing you want to hear, but the sooner you get it looked at by a doctor, the sooner you can get some real relief from the pain and the bleeding.

Go to the doctor and don't be emberassed- People get these all the time.

If it's bleeding- I'd say it might need to be removed.

They say sitting in sitz baths really help with the pain also.

Well I called my insurance nurseline for advice. I told her I just had a haemorrhoid pop, and that it bled for a couple of minutes but that there was no pain, and the bleeding had clotted and stopped.

"Great!" she said! "Now you won't have to get it surgically removed."

Apparently that's it, and I just have to keep it clean. Once it pops and empties, the pocket of blood that is the hemmie isn't there to make pain anymore and it should just heal as though I'd had it treated.

And let me tell you, today it feels better than it has done in YEARS!
