Subject: Headaches-Weather Related

I have a friend who claims to suffer headaches every time a storm is approaching. Is this possible and how, physiologically would it occur?

I have experienced that at times myself. It could be due to atmospheric pressure or it could be a subconscious trigger due to stress or fear. Has she talked to her doctor about it?

I would say it is possible and I would recommend that your friend go see a Dr. If there is a condition or something going on that is causing this pain because of the change in pressure they should get it looked at.

its from barometric pressure changes.

My ears equalize when a storm is coming. Ill hear a popping in my ears. Sometimes Ill clutch myhead and tearupo when I experience one of those pressure change headaches, thats what we call them.

I do empathize with her.. weather related headaches,t oothaces, joint pain is so incomfortable....and distractingf.

Everyone's body has a different reaction to changes in barometric pressure.

There are times I am immobilized by pain, even though I take vicodin, when the pressure drops by 20 points, so I can understand how someone might get a headache when the weather changes!

I don't think I experience headaches from the pressure changes but storms always affect my sinuses and that gives me severe headaches at times. For some reason, my allergies always get worse when it rains (opposite of most people) so perhaps your friend has a sinus condition that she's unaware of?

I don't think it would be psychological, though the body can make itself sick. Is she afraid of storms?

I agree it's probably due to a change in pressure.

I've read about that happening and it had something to do with the extra pollutions stirred up before a brewing storm and the change in humidity that usually occurs.

I am sure that is not the only explanations but the only ones I've heard of.
