Subject: Headache help

I am thinking that I get chronic headaches and I am trying to see what the strongest thing out there without an Rx is. I am not sure if its brought on by stress or other things, so I am trying to weed out my ideas before hitting up the doc.

Have you tried just plain caffeine? Sometimes you get caffeine rebound headaches if you haven't had your caffeine fix for the day. You can also take two Tylenol with two Motrin and that is pretty effective. It's what a lot of doctors give to women who've had c-sections and are breast feeding. They don't want to give them narcotics so they get Tylenol and Motrin. It works pretty well too.

Oh you poor thing. Headaches can be really complicated sometimes. You may need to go to the doctor to make sure you are not having a type of migraine. They can manifest in many different ways and there are a lot of medications that you can get and they help.

I feel for you. I have migraines and they can be so difficult to get rid of. There are all sorts of manifestations of migraines. It may not be a migraine but you really need to talk to your doctor to make sure. The very least he may be able to prescribe something that will help. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

I wish I could help but I really don't know what would work best for you. I did want to say though that there are a lot of things that you should verify first such as: Are you drinking enough water? Dehydration causes some serious headaches; too much or too little caffeine can cause headaches (depending on your normal intake); also tense muscles and strains in your neck shoulders or back can bring on headaches.

Most of these causes can simply be covered or made worse by taking medication but it really won't deal with the problem.

I would start keeping a journal so that you can see when the headaches are occurring. That will really help your doctor. I have found that a cold wash cloth held over the pain helps me with headaches and yes, even with migraines.

I can not tell if its the caffeine, the stress or just the craziness from an old back/shoulder/neck injury.

I wish I could narrow it down, at least then I would know why and better able to fix it.

First thing is to try and determine what is causing your headaches. Stress is a big one and that is usually what gives me headaches. If you can determine the cause it may allow you to reduce the need for pain killers.

I agree that finding the cause is the first step. I ran across this article and thought maybe it could be of use http://www.ehow.com/how_4995401_natural-methods-relieve-headache-symptoms.html

That article just gives some easy ways to get rid of a headache but I figured it could help identify a few potential causes too.

Stress is the one thing that I am working ever so hard to avoid. For me it seems to float around and stick on like its addicted to me. Today has been so so but there is a slight headache lingering.
