Subject: Gaming bad for the health?

I know that sometimes people, children as well as adults can get caught up in a game and then let their priorities lapse. Does this do the same for health too? I mean there is a difference between gaming too much and forgetting homework or taking a day off work just to game, but what about when it gets to the point it affects your health. Are there support groups for things like this?

I think like with anything you do need a break, if you are infront of a game all day then it will effect your health as you are not getting any exercise proberly eating badly and getting eye strain.

We all know that lack of exercise can affect your health. If you have a good balance of gaming and getting out of the house and doing things that are more physical than that's cool. But if all you're doing is sitting and gaming, that's not real good for ya at all.

Along with sitting for hours playing games and not moving your body around at all, it is also found that adult's blood pressure has a tendency to go up when they play games that are too exciting or that frustrate them. So along with not getting exercise, adults playing video games also might have episodes of very high blood pressure. If it isn't controlled, all sorts of health problems might occur.

I think the lack of exercise is the biggest things I can notice. I have a couple of friends that will game a great deal. One I can think of right now is one of those negative people in general, but he doesnt do anything to help himself. Example: gaming too much, then complains about not meeting a girlfriend - since he is gaming too much.

I actually think that this can develop into a problem that can have a bad effect on your overall health and lifestyle, almost like an addiction.

The gaming isn't necessarily the problem. I would say the issue is obsessive behavior. If you do anything obsessively there will come a point where it is bad for you physically not just mentally.

I think it is rare for it to become an addiction to be honest.

I think you do need a break, because looking at the screen for long periods of time cannot be good for you.

Let me tell you something. I have a Japanese friend who was admitted to the hospital after spending endless hours on his PS3 game player. He has been playing the games on it for twenty four hours without any sleep and meals. He even have to be carried to the hospital in a stretcher by the ambulance staff that came over to his house.

No, this is not a story. It is a real life event. So now do you think gaming is BAD for our health?

What do you think?
