Subject: | FREE Weekend Of Hope To Cancer People | |
"Cancer patients, survivors, and their families are invited to reserve their free hotel rooms for the eighth "Weekend of Hope" in Stowe, Vermont, May 2-4, 2008." I read this article this morning in About.com. I can't tell you how wonderful this makes me feel. There actually is a place filled with people who really care enough to do something that really helps. It just makes me filled with gratitude that there are people like this around. "Participants will have access to a variety of educational and recreational programs throughout the weekend. The Stowe Weekend of Hope will feature presentations by some of the nation's leading oncologists and medical researchers, held at a variety of locations throughout the resort town. Presentation topics will cover both traditional and nontraditional cancer treatments and therapies. This year's Weekend of Hope will also feature yoga classes, guided nature walks, musical performances, equine therapy and opportunities to network with other patients. Most events are free; meals are not included. For the sixth year, Amtrak will offer a limited number of complimentary round-trip seats on a "Train of Hope" departing from Washington, DC, and making several stops on its way to Vermont including Philadelphia and New York City. Discounted train fares will also be available once the free seats are taken. On Saturday evening, a candlelight service will be held at the Stowe Community Church. More details about weekend events are available at the Stowe Weekend of Hope Web site. Free accommodations at dozens of participating Stowe lodges, inns and hotels will be provided for Friday and Saturday nights to people who have or have had cancer and their families. To request a free room, complete the online registration form. A $50 registration fee is required to hold your free room. At check-in, this deposit will be refunded, or you may opt instead to donate the fee to the Stowe Weekend of Hope. Interested cancer patients and survivors should request reservations as soon as possible, as rooms are limited. Priority is given to those who have not attended the event in previous years. For more information, call toll free, 888-247-8693." Blessings on Amtrak and the people of Stowe. |
