Subject: Flying and getting sick

It seems every time I get on a plane that in the next few days I end up sick with sinus or cold-like symptoms. I've tried a couple of products that are supposed to help with this but so far nothing has worked. Does this happen to anyone else? Have you found something that works?

Chris

All of the air inside a plane stays in the plane for the length of the trip. That means that everyone is breathing the same air. Everyone breathing out their germs and everyone breathing them in. It's been found that many people get sick after airplane rides.

I heard that it is a good idea to put the air level up high at your seat if you can. I've also heard that some people wear small portable ozone makers around their necks, (it's made for this purpose) that are supposed to clean your air. But I've heard from people who have tried it that it doesn't work.

The only thing you can do is make sure that you keep washing your hands, keep them away from your mouth and nose and eyes and take a lot of vitamin C when you go on a plane. You can only make yourself as resistant as you can to fight those germs off.

Depending on where you are flying to, it can also be a result of the change in water or air quality from place to place. If you always experience sinus symptoms, perhaps a simple decongestant could help. Just take it an hour or so before getting on the plane.

I have felt ill every time I have flown, but I am afraid of flying and always attributed my illness to nerves!

I have, however, thought about rebreathing the same air, which only adds to my fear of flying.

It has happened to me about 90% of the time when I have flown, either short or long trips it doesnt seem to matter. I can tell you though the bigger the plane (when I flew overseas) the bigger the sickness after the travels.

I only had this happening once and I think it was the air pressure changing that caused it, I had a horrible pain in my head for a few days. I wouldn't wish that even for my worst enemy.

Yep,I also develop the same symptoms every time I take a flight especially over the long haul. I guess our immune system is a bit weak. For me, I will take some colds pills to keep me from getting the cold like symptoms. It works every time. Try it.

Lucky for me I never fly so I do not have this problem. I have some friends who seem to get sick when they fly.

I enjoy flying. But I prefer travel by train that is very relaxing.
