Ear candles are like hollow straws (the old fashioned kind made of wax covered paper). You light the end and insert the tip in your ear and they draw out the ear wax and other junk. Its a bit odd feeling and is best done with another person since you need to have the ear upright. |

I have heard this procedure is very good for helping with severe ear infections. I had a friend who once had it done because she had fluid in her ears. She said she was amazed at how much better she could hear after getting this done. |

I have done this a few times in the past with great results. Basically the wax from the candle draws out the excess wax from your ear - clearing the passages and providing instant relief. |

I've heard good and bad things about ear candles. Some people swear by them, while others say that the warmth that they give off is what helps the ear, but that you can also harm yourself because you need to light the candle up. I always wonder when people don't try the old fashioned help that works and can't hurt you, I guess it just isn't exciting enough. Just try a drop of hydrogen peroxide in your ear and let it bubble up all the earwax that is plugging it up. Then tip your head and let it drain out. Usually after the ear can once again drain well, you will feel and hear better again. |
