Subject: Dry Skin

Its that time of year again! My hands are starting to itch, the skin is cracking and close to bleeding.

How do you handle extreme dry skin?

I use heavy cream. I really like E45, especially since it can be used for all members of the family, its not greasy and it makes your skin feel so much better.

I found that one of the new Aveno naturals seems to be very effective. I've tried other things in the past, including vaseline intensive care and it just doesn't help.

This seems to be the best yes.

E45 I have tried in the past and it just washes off too easily. I wash my hands a lot because of the kids, and as a result nothing stays with me for long enough. I almost need to be in nurses rubber gloves or something all day!

If this is happening at certain times of the year, you may want to check with your doctor that it really is only dry skin. Sometimes eczema or a fungal infection can cause similar symptoms and may need something more than lotion.

Where can you get this E45? I am so far only having issues on my elbows but they are getting to the point of pain and need to nip this in the bud.

You'll find E45 at almost any drug store, and chemist shop. I've bought it both in the UK and the USA, so its a pretty popular thing.

Its definitely not a fungal infection. It comes on when the humidity drops and lasts all winter whilst the humidity is low, then stops in summer whilst humidity is high.

My hands tend to get a little dry but nothing too bad. I know some people end up with almost flaky like hands, is that an after issue from getting frostbitten?

What do you think?
