Subject: | Does Anyone Write Letters Anymore? | |
Does Anyone Write Letters Anymore? I received a real live, hand printed on stationary, letter from an old friend recently. She had heard about a health concern in my family and wanted to write her emotions out, not just talk on the phone about it to me, which she says she's going to do soon anyway. I found it to be really valuable. She gave herself the time to get her thoughts down and took the time to actually compose a beautiful letter. Reading it gave me the time to really understand her feelings. I am going to keep this letter for ever. Has anyone else here written a letter lately, or do you think it's a waste of time, since you can write an email easier or just make a phone call? |

Letters are a great way to show that you really care. Now adays, it is so easy to call or email people a thank you or express a concern, we don't think much of it. It shows someone really cares when they take the time to sit and write a letter. |

I think that many wish they had more time to sit down and write letters but seldom get the chance. I have some I need to do as well. Sadly, I type better than I write now. :) |

My mom would always make me write hand written thank you letters when I was younger. Back then I hated it, but now I realize how much of an impression it makes. |

When I send a card which is often artwork from my wife or myself I hand write the note in it. Otherwise I type just about everything. Yes, my handwriting is getting progressively worse. |

I always write letters to people especially over the holidays. My grandmother never sent a card without a letter tucked inside and I always thought it was a grand thing. I have always loved a nice pen and good quality paper though so I doubt I'll be quitting any time soon. |

Honestly, I've switched almost entirely to email and even then, I don't really write many "letters" because I don't have that much time to sit down and think them out....and I'm not sure my recipients have the time (or care) to sit and read what I have to say either. |

Letters are a good way to show emotion a bit better than email, I'd say, but it's not cost-effective. Email is free, and faster. I prefer email over mail for most occasions, depending on what the mail is... But you are right, nobody really uses mail anymore, for the right reasons. The only mail I get anymore are bills, invoices, and JUNK mail! |
