Subject: Constipation

A friend of mine told me that eating prunes is good for constipation or drinking a cup of prune juice. Has any one tried this or heard of this?

I remember reading about this in yahoo answers, though I have never tried it. In fact, I don't know what a prune it. I haven't come across a prune in India.

Besides, I no longer suffer from constipation. My remedies for constipation are: lots of water, fibrous food, a cup of coffee, bananas, and papaya.

Yes, siree, prunes are wonderful for constipation and on top of that prunes are very good for your health.

The old saying "are three enough, six too many?" seems apt. But I can testify that prunes and prune juice both are exceptionally good for constipation.

I heard of this from my grandmother. Although I have never eaten the fruit for constipation, I used to eat a fair amount of it - and I liked it.

goodhealth, I googled prunes and found that it's actually called Alu-Bukhara in India.

Prunes are wonderful-really good for keeping you regular. I don't need to use them myself but my daughter (just a young child) has them when she hasn't gone for a few days and will go within an hour of eating them.

I actually enjoy the taste of prunes and really don't need them for any other reason but because I enjoy them.

A prune is nothing but a dried plum and they taste great!

I have tried it and it works, once it was so bad that I had to eat one whole box of prunes before I went out. Since then I have tried to include fibre in my diet on a regular basis.

I love prunes and eat them often for regularity.

Bananas are a constipating food...odd that the previous poster says that helps! I can't eat more than half a banana or I'm stopped up for days!

I don't have this issue, but I do take ditary fiber supplements and also eat loads of Fiber One - it keeps things going along "just fine" and I notice it when I do not keep this routine.
