Subject: | Cigarette Smoke | |
Does anyone else have trouble with tolerating cigarette smoke? Even when someone has left, the lingering smell and I guess residue gives me headaches and makes it hard for me to breathe. Besides the fact that it stinks to high heaven, I wonder if I'm actually allergic to it? |

I don't like cigarette smoke at all. I'm glad where I work they have a designated smoking area so that those few of us that do not smoke can get away from it. Quebec where I live has the highest rate of smokers in the country. |

It sounds like you might have an actual allergy to something that is in the cigarette smoke. I am allergic to the smoke and just about everything else, it seems, that floats through the air. |

My wife has the same trouble. If someone smokes around her she gets a splitting headache and has to go lay down somewhere. She gets a stuffy nose too so I think she has an allergy too. She takes allergy medicine but it just seems like when she's around smoke it doesn't work. |

It's hard when you react to the smoke around you. Thankfully, a lot of public buildings have smarten up and banned smoking. Second-hand smoke can be even worse for you, than inhaling it directly. Because, there is a chemical reaction different in the smoke that is being exhaled. Besides, there is only a filter on the end currently being smoked. Unfortunately, many people don't realize the risks or just don't care. |

I can fully understand the need for having a ban in place for smoking in buildings, in food places, etc. Though what about on the street, free in public? That is what I think is wrong. Majority of my smoking friends are wise avoid to avoid it around me, my spouse does have the allergic reaction that you do and many others as well. I guess we are just lucky to have kind friends. |

I don't smoke and when I am around people who do I am miserable. I move away if I can. I was at the airport once, waiting to be picked up and it seem as if every other person was smoking, so there was no escape. I felt trapped, it was awful. |

I don't smoke and I will never smoke! I think it is a disgusting habit and of no use. It will just take away from your life. |
