Subject: | Cancelled flight but no guaranteed compensation | |
Can you believe it? According to this report http://edition.cnn.com/2008/TRAVEL/traveltips/04/11/airlines.obligations.ap/index.html, if I turn up at the airport and find out that the airline has cancelled my flight, I might not be able to get a refund on my ticket. How can this be considered reasonable if the cancellation is not an 'act of God'? |

I wonder how many people are going to get sick at the injustices at what the Airlines are getting away with now? How can any industry get away with not providing their service yet can still keep the money they got for that service? Today there are so many people now waiting at the American Airlines terminals to see if their plane will go off. They still have to show up and wait in a crowded place but the industry doesn't care, they say their planes might be up and running this afternoon, but there's no guarantee. So all the people with tickets have to spend the money to get there and if their flight is a no go, they have to pay to get back to the city and then try to find a hotel for another night! There's going to be loads of people with migraines, ulcers, heart attacks and all sorts of stress related problems. But the air industry doesn't care and isn't made to care either. They have gotten away with other scams before and now they are getting away with more. Maybe it's time we all try to use the trains or busses instead if we are traveling in the US. It might be worth the extra time spent traveling to not be used so badly, or like you mentioned, to lose our money if the flight doesn't go out and have to pay for another ticket for another flight! Let the airlines and their pals in Washington realize that we still have another option for travel and that we will use it if they don't start treating their customers fairly. |

I wish that won't happen to me. I travel twice every 6 months through planes and I'm glad that my flights haven't been cancelled. I guess that if there is really a valid reason for the cancellation of the flight then it will be ok for me. |

The airlines in the US suck, period. There's always delays, the service is crappy, and the prices are too expensive. I don't ever want to use a plane again, and yes, it does seem like a waste of money if you can't even get refunded! They all need to be reported to the BBB! |
