Subject: Caffeine Use

I have been a caffeine user for a long time, to the point that I get bad head aches if I don't get my first cuppa of the day. I don't drink a lot, but what I do I have to have daily.

How do you bring yourself off this addiction?

I've had to come off caffeine for a short period of time before and it wasn't easy. I just took a couple of tylenol for the headaches and that seemed to help. You can also try to drink half normal and half decaf to lessen the affects. Then you can switch to decaf after a while or just stop all together.

I dont think you have a serious problem if you are limiting your caffeine intake. I would definately look at switching to decaf brands though and perhaps wean yourself off a little at a time.

I had the same problem as you - a major headache when I tried to stop cold turkey. Sometime ago I read that you should drink smaller and smaller amouts each day, until you reduce the amout to nothing. That worked for me.

It seems when you try to give things up right away the headache always seems to come. It is hard giving things up cold turkey sometimes.

Your best bet is to wean yourself off a little at a time. Don't forget that it isn't just in coffee. It is in all types of soft drinks and teas. It is also in many weight loss formulas. I have trouble sleeping if I get more than a little bit anyway so I've always made an effort to stear clear of the stuff.

Yes, you have to come off the caffeine a little at a time. There's no reason to rush off of it unless there is a serious health risk you might have with it.

That also means giving up other caffeinated drinks like soda.

If you do it slowly you won't have bad headaches and eventually be off caffeine.

If you're drinking anything more than one cup a day you will definitely have to go about it slowly unless you've got a weekend to detox and deal with the repercussions. Caffeine comes out of your system pretty fast compared to some things like nicotine but its not alot of fun.

I get caffeine headaches when going without it for more than 24 hours. The only thing that seems to help at the time of a headache is CAFFEINE. but yes weening yourself alil less each day will help you.

What do you think?
