I think it's bad for you. The best diet is the mediteraneean one, check out my post on the matter. |

When you stop following most diets, people tend to gain the weight they lost back -- and then some. That is the norm for dieting. I used an Atkins based diet a while ago and it worked well. I didn't use it alone though. I was following another diet and I was losing weight nicely, but I was on that diet for years. When I would, from time to time, get too bored with my main diet, I would completely change my eating habits and go on an Atkins-like, carb restricted diet. Since my usual diet was full of salads and fruits, by going on a low carb diet, I got over being bored because everything was different and I continued to lose weight. After a week or two of losing weight on a low carb diet, I found I would get constipated and bored with the low carb eating. Then I would welcome going back to my main diet. Low carb eating works, but it's usual to gain the weight back when you go off any diet. |

I think that limiting carbs can be very good for many of us. In my experience, I've never cut them out completely. I think there are good points to be made for most diets, even if they're not followed to a T. |

Like any diet it is good for some people and not so good for others. The best diet I have ever used is adding extra food to my normal eating routine. Sounds crazy doesn't it? Well when you add low calorie foods to the beginning of your meal, you will eat much less of the other things that may have more calories than you really need. You will get full and stop eating. So eat the lo-cal stuff first and save the good stuff for last. |

I have heard good and bad things about the Atkins diet. I guess each person has to find what is right for them. |

I think that completely missing out a food group ultimately has to be bad for you. As you have said, as soon as you introduced the carbs back into your daily diet, the weight appeared again. |
