Subject: Arm or Leg going asleep.

Have you ever woken up during the night with something laying in the bed beside you and when you reach out to touch it you find out it's your arm gone numb. I don't know why I fall asleep in odd positions sometimes but it can be a very weird sensation. Anyone else experience this?

I can't say that I have ever experienced any numbness to that extent. I have awoken with some numbness or tingling in my fingers from laying on my arm wrong. Have you spoken to your doctor about this?

Oh boy, do I have experience with this. There are a few things I know of that can cause it. One is Multiple Sclerosis. But before you dive down that rabbit hole, a more likely scenario is that you're having neck trouble (whether you know it or not) where because of displacement of vertebra or loss of curvature in your cervical spine. I would find a good chiropractor--which not all of them are--and get it checked out.

That's weird. Does your arm fall asleep when you're laying on it, or in some other position? Does it wake up when you shake it?

Bad cirriculation is the best guess here. I sometimes do this when I end up sleeping "funny" but most times I notice when its done, its during a very stressful time in my life.

I've had that happen on occasion. I usually find that I was lying on my arm and cutting off the circulation. Kind of creepy feeling, though, when it happens, isn't it? If it happens often, you should probably check with a doctor.

Cutting off the circulation. That is the best possible explanation. It happens to me all the time. Once I woke up without any feeling in my both arms. So creepy, I almost started to panic...

This has happened to me also several times and it was never pleasant. I can't seem to help having a little panic attack when it happens.

I thought that was just me experiencing sometimes, haha! I'm relieved now because I'm not the only one. A weird feeling for sure, makes you imagine how your life would look like without the arm for couple of seconds.

Usually this happens when I fall asleep on my arm, that is, I put head on my arm. It's a little freaky but nothing to be scared about. Blood flood is cut of for couple of minutes but that is not dangerous. One doctor once told me that brain wouldn't let the arm get hurt, he would woke you up before something serious would to happen.

I mentioned it to the doctor and he thought it was a little funny. Told me not to roll over on my arm while sleeping. It does not happen often and my doctor doesn't think at this point it is a big deal.
