Subject: | withdrawl symptoms | |
I have had very bad withdrawl symptoms from trying to wean off of my Anitdepressant drug. I have been taking them for years. If I miss taking them i go about 2 hours passed the time I usually take it and my head starts feeling really funny. It`s like I can`t tell I am even taking anything unless i don`t take it. Then I feel drugged. |

I would talk to your doctor about reducing your dependence on it. He also might give you a good idea of what symptoms you can expect along the way and where they lead. I applaud your efforts to stop depending on them though. I have a neighbor who is so addicted to the anti depressants she will literally fight her doctor to get them. |

It is odd that a doctor advised not to come off of them, i would go to a different doctor and see what he says. |

If your doctor says you can't get off them -- and if you trust your doctor -- then listen to his advice. That's why you pay him, for his expertise. You didn't say why you want to go off your medication, but if taking it bothers you that much, I'd suggest that you have a good heart to heart talk with your doctor and let him or her know that you are not happy. Ask if there is another drug that you could take that won't bother you too much. As long as you need to take your medication (and there are many people who have to take their medication for their lifetime) don't play games with your good health and try to stop taking it on your own. I had an aunt who decided to "clean her system" of all her medications one weekend. She had a stroke because her blood pressure medications were needed every day. Safety first. Talk to your doctor, he might just be able to help. |

The reason I don`t like taking them is because I`m worried about the long term affects. I don`t want panic attacks again. But I don`t want a bad liver in the future either. I guess I`ll have to ask him about that. I never have so I don`t know what he will say about long term affects. |

its important to get regular tests done if your taking meds that can affect your liver. Is your doctor scheduling these tests on a regular basis..like every 1-12 months depending on the medication in question? |

My advice to you is to speak to your doctor asap. He/she may have some useful information to help you with your withdrawals. I wish you all the best as you work toward beating your addiction! |

If your doctor informs you. You will never get off of a certain medicine, I would be looking into a second opinion QUICK! |
