Subject: | Wellbutrin for smoking? | |
Can someone explain to me exactly how this works? I always thought that Wellbutrin was just an antidepressent drug and nothing more? I am seeing more and more drugs have multi uses and I'm not so sure thats a good thing. |

it's one of those meds that really isn't undertood. During trial, participants who were taking zyban for depression quit smoking. The drug was then marketed not for depression, but for quitting cigarettes. wellbutrin is the generic for zyban. i took wellbutrin to quit smoking. It worked, but i also had a violent allergic reaction including sever swelling, hives and physical pain. After the swelling went down, i was on pain killers for the next three months while this crap blead out of my sytem. Be careful, it's not advertised, but welbutrin has killed people. |

Oh dear, that is some scary stuff. My husband's doctor prescribed Wellbutrin to help him stop chewing tobacco. I don't know if it really works for that or not, but I was willing for him to try it. Now, I'm not so sure. Thanks for the heads up. |

Very important to understand the possible side effects of a drug before you take it. Allergic reactions can be severe and life threatening. It is good to have an EpiPen available for those types of emergencies. They will usually stop a severe allergic reaction long enough to get the person to the hospital. |

My brother used Wellbutrin to help him stop smoking and had no problems. He has recommended it to several of his friends because he felt it helped him so much. |
