Subject: Syringe reuse linked to hepatitis C outbreak

Employees have been reusing syringes to inject more than patient and as a result, studies have shown that there is a link in the increase of the disease.

Which employees are you referring to? What studies? I'd like to see the documentation behind this comment. I've worked in healthcare and find it hard to believe that this is a common practice with the strict regulations in place.

Here is a great example just used Googles News area to find it.

I knew I had read about this recently but couldnt remember exactly where it was. Seems some people dont practice the same types of strict regulations as others huh?

I hope this is an isolated case and the regulations are practised more to the letter much more commonly. This case is so unfortunate and in this day and age.

Isn't that illegal? Nobody should ever reuse a needles or syrings!

That defeats the whole purpose of getting rid of the disease.

That to me is just stupidity Isn't it the Medical professionals that clued us in to the fact that that can spread diseases? Things like these should not be allowed to happen - regardless. I hope everyone of them loses their jobs if they had no qualms about doing it this time they won't have any next time either.

Things like this scare me to the jeebies! What kind of people would think that something like this is an okay thing? It really makes you wonder what type of people they allow into fields of this nature.

I've heard of similar cases, including one where equipment was reused without being properly sterilized.

I'd expect that things like that are more likely to happen in underdeveloped areas.

That's what you would think but this took place in Reno, NV did it not?

What do you think?
