Subject: | Strength of Claritin when it was RX? | |
I had a friend tell me that when Claritin was a prescription only medication that it was twice as strong as the OTC version. Therefore she said it was safe to take two a day for someone that the once a day dose wasn't effective. Does anyone know if that is true? |

I think it remained the same strength but was approved for over the counter sale. I would not take more than the recommended dose. |

I wouldn't recommend taking anymore than the approved dosage. |

Before going against the recommended dosage on any drug you should ask your doctor. There is a reason it says once a day and it would be stupid to take more than that. |

I didn't plan on taking more than the recommended dosage, at least without discussing it with the doctor and pharmacist. I just wanted to know if it was true before I approached them to ask. I figured someone here might know. |
