Subject: Motrin vs Aspirin

As someone who really hasn't taken a lot of medication over the years but has had to start taking a bit more over the past year, I was fascinated that Motrin, which is so highly touted, worked great for one thing, but not another. Oddly, aspirin sometimes worked better. I had a bit of back pain and knee pain during the year. While Motrin was like a miracle worker one time, it was a dud the next time. It really depended on which area of my body was hurting.

Fascinating.

That is because they target different processes in the brain/nerve connection. Both have a lot of side effects though. I prefer tylenol myself in most cases because both aspirin and ibuprofen bother my stomach.

I've noticed the same thing. Motrin works nicely for the arthritis in my knees but if I have a headache plain aspirin works the best. You have to learn which medication to take for the pain you have.

For anything that has to do with my arthritis or a minor pain I use ibuprofen but anything more extreme I have to throw down an Aleve or something like that.

I have bursitis in both my hips. When it acts up I take ibuprofen which is the same as motrin I think. I works really good. I can`t get relief from asprin for even a headache.

Its funny how that works on the axion receptors.

Mostrin works well for certain things. Fo ryears it worked on my shingles and headaches and RLS.

Tylenol works for post surgery n me and for some things, like slowing down my cycle flow.

What I did find though was Aleve works all the time on every pain. And So does Excedrin Migraine.

Since certain chemicals are excreted hat fill the gap in the nerve axions, teh pain killer works on interrupting that. Depending on the exact chemical makeup a drug will work or not.

And you also ahve to consider chemical formulations do change. New and improved or advanced formula may not have the same propriatery ingredients as it did before.

I think both work well for different things. Almost everyone is different and what works well for one person will not for one. I find Motrin works well for me.

That was interesting about the different formulas. Bayer, for example, has all those different kinds of 'aspirin' now, but to be honest, their regular aspirin works better for me than any of the specialty ones.
