No-Doz I know that this can be taken sometimes and only when really needed, but are there any long lasting effects that could cause issues later down the line? |

Of course No Doz is a drug! It's an over the counter drug and has loads of caffeine in it. In fact here is the list of problems you can get into with it: Important safety information: NoDoz may cause dizziness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to NoDoz. Using NoDoz alone, with certain other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or perform other potentially dangerous tasks. Avoid large amounts of caffeine-containing foods and beverages, such as coffee, tea, cocoa, cola drinks, and chocolate. This includes any medicines that contain caffeine. NoDoz is not to be used as a substitute for sleep. Diabetes patients - NoDoz may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely and ask your doctor before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine. NoDoz is not recommended for use in CHILDREN younger than 12 years of age. Safety and effectiveness in this age group have not been confirmed. PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant while taking NoDoz, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using NoDoz during pregnancy. It is unknown if NoDoz is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using NoDoz, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby. When used for long periods of time or at high doses, some people develop a need to continue taking NoDoz. This is known as DEPENDENCE or addiction. If you suddenly stop taking NoDoz, you may experience WITHDRAWAL symptoms including dizziness, headache, unusual tiredness, irritability, muscle tension, or nausea. Possible side effects of NoDoz: All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome: Dizziness; irritability; nausea; nervousness. Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur: Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); diarrhea; shakiness; trouble sleeping; vomiting. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. Wow, you sure CAN get into trouble taking it. |

I don't know about long lasting effects, but I took too much once as a teenager and I was pretty sick: dizzy, sick to my stomach, couldn't sleep (surprise suprise, right?). I had a hard time getting off it, even though it's "just" caffeine. |

I used it in the past with bad palpitations being the worst of the side effects. That said, it was pretty worrying, left me short of breath and dizzy so I wouldn't recommend them. |

I had a bad time using this as well. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest and I was shaking like crazy. I stay away from it any more! Chris |

This sounds like something I would stay away from, even though, I am sure it works perfectly for some. I remember taking something similar in order to study for exams. I felt as if I was wired. Even when it was time to sleep it was just still in my system. |

I have used it before and never drove or anything then but there are certain times you just cant fall asleep. One of the most recent even though years ago I had been awake with our child off/on for about a day teething and my SO had locked themselves out of the house, so when they were 1 1/2 hour away coming back from something I had taken one and I felt the wired deal too. Not since then have I used it but I was curious. |

I took it a few times. I use to work nights and it helped a bit. I never had any real side effects. I did crash pretty hard when it all ran out of my system though. |

I use to work graveyard and my coworker use to take it and he always was completely drained about a half hour before our shift ended. He was like the walking dead. |
