Subject: | Hip and bone degeneration with GERD medication | |
Its a never ending loop. we were just nformed thatw e have to inform our pateints of a problem with taking proton pump inhibitors for acid reflux. It seems that while it helps with GERD teh reduction in pump output has a direct relationship to not assimilating calcium and phsosphorus. It seems ot block absorptipon of tehse two minerals. So,. here steh condundrum, stay on medicationa dn risk bone fractures or swiotch to TUMS extra and keep bone loss from happening. I am at aloss, because while I offer help I am also one of thsoe that ahs to take the medication. So I am taking my own advice, Oral OTC like Tums and Pepcid complete. I take the famotidine and watch my diet. I am trying the enetric coated calcium bone supplements to prevent complications. How though is anyone handling teh news? j |
