A good example would be a patch or nicotene gum to quit smoking. With many addictions, the early withdrawl symptoms are what many can't deal with, which is why many revert back to their addiction. The drugs give them a lower dose of the drug they are used to having and remove the psychological attachment to that drug. Gradually they lower the dose till the patient can go completely without the meds or the drug. This method helps greatly increase the success rate for those kicking very addictive or hard core drugs such as heroin. |

The fact of the matter is you can't. This is a crutch for people who don't have the will power to do it for themselves. In almost all cases the best way to quit using a drug is to taper off in a regular orderly manner...a little less each day until your using next to none...and then quit. there are a few drugs that you might have to have intervention because of the withdrawal symptoms. Toughen up with using crutches and help take care of yourself. |
