Subject: | Building up a tolerance for medications | |
I have had a long history (going back to my teens) of building up a tolerance for drugs so they either need to be increased or changed completely. I am running into this problem more and more lately it seems and with my depression medications. It is really starting to worry me that soon nothing will work. Has anyone else experienced this? my hubby did with a few too and I did. When i told my doctor i am refusing to up teh dose theer has to be something to take to give my system a break.. for me we tried a few things and then finally switched to vitamins to give my syetem a break. for my hubby he went OTc combinations with a single additive. That may not work for everyone, but with the amount of drugs on the market your doctor should have a backup. HAev you discussed using a natural alternative for a few weeks? |

Most people experience this with age or if they have to take medications on a daily basis, so don't worry, you aren't weird! |

I was definitely thinking natural alternatives. So even if you have to increase the dosage, then it will not necessarily have an adverse effect on the body. |

They say to prevent your body from building a tolerance you should change out your medications periodically so as to not let your body build a tolerance. Of course you have to discuss this with your doctor because the medications have to be effective for the same condition and react properly to your needs. |

I had this issue with pain meds before and I told my doctor and he seemed to think I was crazy. I ended up skipping times when I should have taken them but you know with youth comes being dumb sometimes. Dont do what I did, talk to your doc and if they dont listen - get a new one! |
