Subject: | Anything Stronger than Vicodin? | |
In a couple of years I will have to consider changing my daily pain killer to something stronger than Vicodin, but don't really want to have methadone on hand. Has anyone heard of any oral opoid that is stronger than Vicodin but not as heavy as Methadone? |

Have you talked to your doctor at all about this? What type of pains are you using it for anyways? V always makes me sleepy to the point I can fall asleep standing up. I don't know how you could use it daily. |

Surprisingly Vicodin has never really worked for me but Percocets work wonders on my pain. I've suffered with a bad back my whole life and now at just 30 sometimes it is debilitating and Perc's really work for me when I am in extreme pain. I believe the generic version is oxycodone with APAP. |

Sometimes you don`t need a stronger drug, just a different one. Pain killers can stop working when your body gets used to it. At least thats what happens with me. I just switch around when my meds stop working. I don`t want to keep taking stronger ones. |

I've had arthritis in my knees for years. When I take a very strong pain killer for the pain they hardly ever work. I started using motrin and that helps the pain much more than any of the stronger drugs ever did. |

I have to agree. you can simply switch up every so often and that may make a big difference. But I had to be on Diladid for a while due to severe back injury and hope I never have to have that stuff again. I later found out that is what they give cancer patients in their last stages. So it has to be strong. |

Percocet does work better than vicodin in my opinion, but I think it's more addictive. My doctor has already told me he will not prescribe it for me, his exact words were "I wouldn't prescribe that for my own mother". He considers it a dangerous drug. I believe he is even reluctant to prescribe vicodin. He never gives me refills, so he can always check my chart to see if I'm taking what he thinks is too much. |
