My sister is a teacher and has a child in her class who is severely allergic to penicillin. Now my sister has strep and is on penicillin, she's worried.

Is there any risk of her causing a reaction in this child?

Virtually none. I know a couple where the wife is extremely allergic to penicillin. For her to get a reaction when he is taking penicillin they have to be getting very intimate. I sincerely doubt that would be an issue in the classroom.

I have a friend who is in the same boat, allergic to all the cillians. I have never heard of a case where it could bother another in this type of situation though. I think if anything it would be very rare at the very most (like a husband/wife, one is allergic, they kiss and "stuff"), thats all I could reasonably think of.

I wouldn't think so unless she was extremely careless and didn't wash her hands after taking the medications. I would make sure the child didn't handle any of my possessions though.

I'm also allergic to penicillin and I stay away from certain drugs because of that. There is almost no threat to the people around your sister.

I never heard before that this is even possible. I think your sister doesn't need to worry about causing a reaction, children will be safe.

Well that is good to know and I am sure will put her mind at rest. There's nothing worse to her than the thought of hurting accidentally, one of the kids that are in her care.

Yes I can imagine how she feels about it. I myself would be the same way. But, the good this is that there is no actual danger.
