You know your body best, of course...don't "tough it out" like me. I finally went to the ER for fatigue and what turned out to be a slight infection of the foot. Well, the fatigue was the result of a severely low red blood count, caused mostly by an incorrect coumadin (blood thinner) dosage. If I did not go to the ER and then spend a week in the hospital, I would probably be dead. The moral? Just do it. Sometimes it doesn't "just get better". The medical pros certainly don't know it all, but they know more than us (we have to be assertive, though; we know our bodies best). |

Thanks for mentioning this. A lot of people do try to tough it out and hope they feel better. It is better to be safe than sorry. Hope you start feeling better soon. |

I've been having a lot of problems lately, with sore muscles, headaches, stomach aches, sometimes ear aches, and abdomen pain. I don't like taking too many visits to the doctors because sometimes I feel things will pass by. I went to the doctors twice within the past month, once for sore throat and coughing, the next for a UTI. The coughing could of gotten better, but the UTI I definitely needed the medicine. I was not going to go to the doctors for the UTI though because I wasn't sure what it was and I'd never had one so I wasn't sure what to do at first. You're absolutely right though, go to the doctors if you feel there is a problem! It could turn out being something much more serious! |

If you don't think it is that serious, you can always call and talk to your doctor. Mine doesn't charge for a phone call, and it has saved me alot by not going in for minor things. It is, like others said, better to error on the side of caution. |

I should pay more attention to this about myself. I always try to diagnose myself and wait for things to pass. So far I have been lucky and not had anything serious. However, when I'm nagging my mother to go to the doctor with possible serious symptoms, I can see myself in her. |

I think part of this is the problem with the American medical system. We often tough it out because it costs so darn much to go to the ER or even the doctor. This backfires because when you wait, things sometimes get worse. It's a catch 22. |
