Subject: | Two-faced baby's family refuses special care | |
The family of an Indian baby born with two faces has refused special medical treatment for the infant, saying she is the incarnation of a Hindu goddess. The month-old girl suffers from what appears to be craniofacial duplication, an extremely rare congenital disorder in which part of the face is duplicated on the head. Lali (red), born to a family of poor farm laborers in a village about 34 miles east of New Delhi, has an extra pair of eyes, nose, and lips. Source: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24049832/ Do you think the parents are making the right decision? |

The parents are misguided. The baby is going to have a rough life on the account of its parent’s bad decision. Very sad. |

There are people who are deep rooted in their religious beliefs and nothing can move them otherwise, so I can understand. I hope though, that something can be done for the child as she has no defence against her parents. She may even grow up in an exalted position in her community because of her challenge. |

It is true that because of her challenge she could grow up in an exalted position in her community, but it could also lead to some pretty serious health complications further down the road. |

This is so sad. How can the baby see with two sets of eyes at such different angles? Is her brain able to make all the eyes useful? Does she have two sets of vocal cords and will both mouths be used to speak? I can understand that her parents think she is an incarnation of one of their gods and I also understand that they don't want to do anything to go away from their religion. But will the condition be hazardous to the child? Somehow I can't see her having a long healthy life. Poor baby. |

Does one of the baby's face just do nothing? It's just there? That'd be odd... Stories like this are so sad though :( |

The parents have no idea what they are in for. Their child will be gwaked at and looked at as a freak. It's terrible and sad. |
