Subject: | Top 10 things I can do to make my home more allergen free | |
Here are the following things that are recommended by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease that you can do to keep your allergies from acting up: 1.) Encase all your mattresses and box springs in a dust-proof covering. 2.) Keep all your animals away from the parts of the house that are usually inhabited; all bedrooms. 3.) Remove all carpeting. 4.) Keep only washable materials in the house; Example: sheets, drapes, tablecloths, etc... Also you must routine wash everything and the water temperature should be 130 degrees fahrenheit so tat it will kill all of dust mites. 5.) Try not to upholster your furniture. 6.) Try not to add blinds to your windows. 7.) Keep your furnishings to a minimum. 8.) Try and clean everything at leaset once a week. 9.) Add either Electrostatic or high-energy absorption HEPA0 filters to the living quarters. 10.) Use Dacron mattress pads and pillows. For help with your indoor air quality go to: www.niehs.nih.gov. They are a part of the National Institutes for Health division of Allergy Prevention. |
