Subject: TMJ

Anyone suffer from TMJ - the inflammation in the jaw joint. I've had a terrible time with mine lately and the anti-inflammatories are killing my stomach.

I had a roommate who had TMJ. It was rather odd when she told me "if you see me drooling its because I can't close my jaw" right after meeting her. She had only a couple incidents a year though luckily.

I don't but I had a friend who did. She used to chew gum all the time-literally never saw her without it. Apparently hers responded well to exercise, in the same way as arthritis can do.

Other people though I hear suffer badly from too much chewing.

That is interesting Babe, I would have thought it would make it worse!

My mother has horrible TMJ. She also has stomach ulcers and can't take anti-inflammatories. Hers responds to medicated creams (such as Sombra) and medicated tape (she uses one called Salon Pas or something like that).

My friend suffered with TMJ for years until she met an alternative dentist who took out all of her fillings and repositioned her teeth. It took all her father's money to do it, but she swears that now she feels all better.

You might think about going to a good alternative dentist to an opinion about your TMJ. There might be something he can do for you that might not be as expensive as my friend's experience was.

There is surgery available for TMJ, although I am not certain how well they actually treat the condition in the long term. You may want to try to switch some "friendly" anti-inflammatories that are natural instead of what you are presently taking.

My 17 year old son was told he had TMJ. His jaw will ache sometimes and it clicks. Is this TMJ or was the doctor wrong?

What do you think?
