Subject: | Tanning/ white spots | |
I grew up in the sunny state of California, and although I have learned like the rest of us the ill effects of the sun, in my younger days, I spent many hours out there soaking it up. Although I am caucasion, my skin tone is more olive and used to get really nice tans, still do, but now I go out protected and after 4pm. However, for a period of about 8 years I use to develop white blotches and spots on my arms, back and chest area. There was no itching involved, just discoloration, but was very pronounced. The dermatologist stated that it was a fungus that was carried in the air that everyone is exposed to, yet not everyone gets. I was told to treat it with Selsun Blue shampoo, if I could not afford the prescriptions on a yearly basis. I will be the first to tell you that I didn't think the blue went with my tan very well, nor did I like walking around smelling like a bottle of shampoo. I don't know why or how I came up with this solution, but it worked and I have been spot free for over 10 years. If anyone out there experiences the white spots, then I suggest this: It is certainly cheap enough and usually something we have on hand to begin with. I took a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and dumped half of it in my bath water. I soaked for approximately half an hour. I did this 3 times in one week and low and behold it worked. My son also tried it and it worked for him too. Good old hydrogen peroxide...never ceases to amaze me. |
