Subject: | Swine flu on the rampage | |
Even though so much is known about swine flu ill effects, there are still people who are quite comfortable going around in public spaces coughing and sneezing without even confirming that they are not carriers. Are you doing enough to ensure you do not pass on this virus. |

Honestly, probably not. I am not one of those people who worries about what germs are lurking out there. I practice good handwashing techniques, cover my mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing. I work in retail and encounter people daily who are not always as considerate but I don't have time to think about it. I just keep working. I'm really don't mean to sound nonchalant because I know I should be more cautious. I do what I can not to share my germs with others but I just don't think about what they may be sharing with me. |

I think it all depends where you are coming from. I don't work in a way that I am exposed. Yet I have kids in school and one now has this virus. We are taking precautions, staying home and just resting up, and have told people not to visit. Not much more we can do really is there? |

Dogget, I am sorry to hear that, I hope your child recuperates quickly and none of the other family members catches it, and you are doing right, not accepting visitors. |

I had to go to the hospital for flu symptoms during the SARS outbreak several years ago. There was a sign at the door saying that if you had certain symptoms to use the hand sanitizer and put on a mask before entering through the second set of doors. The ER people were watching me the whole time. They pretty much knew my symptoms before I got to the triage nurse. There I was congratulated for reading the posting and following instructions. They told me most people don't. |
