Subject: | Swelling In Ankles | |
I have had swelling in my ankles for several years and have always taken a water pill. Recently my doctor has taken me off my water pill due to charlie horse's in my legs at night. My potassium levels are normal and the doctor is not sure what is causing the charlie horses other than the fact that I do not have them when I am not on the medication. Does anyone have any suggestions for treating the swelling without medication? |

I would demand tests be done, and if your doctor refuses or can't find the problem, seek out a new doctor. I'm not saying there is anything seriously wrong, but between the swelling and pain, I would wanna rule anything and everything bad out. |

I have this problem alot in the hot summertime. It seems that heat will trigger my ankles and legs to start swelling up. It occurs most often if I have been sitting at my desk for several hours. |

My mom randomly gained 20lbs of water weight when she hit 50 and several excellent doctors could find no real reason. Her water pill helps a bit, but her legs still get bad sometimes. I don't think she gets Charlie Horses though, I'll have to ask her. |

I have this problem too. With the horrible hot weather we've had lately it seems to be much worse than in the winter time. My ankles swell and ache and tend to even feel numb at times. |

I am not diabetic and I know this happens a great deal when you are but it sometimes happens to me. From what I can tell its only when I am dehydrated though. |
