Subject: | Spina Bifida | |
I was born with a very mild case of Spina Bifida. Unlike many with this condition I am not crippled and was very slightly afflicted. I am missing sides to several vertebrae in my lower spine and merely suffer pain and discomfort as a result. Does anyone know of anything, besides medication, that can help ease chronic back pain brought on by this condition? |

I would certainly check with your doctor, especially given the specific cause of your pain. Possibly a back brace of some sort could help to support the lower back better? |

I have met some who have a more severe case and am almost always surprised to find that their zeal for life has not at all been dampened. Especially with the younger suffers. I almost feel bad complaining about back pain after I see what some of these individuals deal with daily and have had to overcome. I tried a back brace for awhile but I am short waisted and it only served to dig into my hips. |

I always wonder about the partial cases like this. I have a friend who's mother has MS and its similar, not everything is effected (yet) but she has random pains that most other MS cases do not. |

Do you soak when you are in pain? Some use hot stuff like a shower or bath, and others I know have sometimes used ice to keep themselves cool and relax the muscles. Do you have any nerve issues (if so, could you get into some more detail so we can better understand)? |
