Subject: | Slipped and wrenched my back | |
My steps were coated with ice this morning and I slipped taking the trash out. I caught myself but my body kind of twisted and I wrenched my back. It is really starting to hurt now. I can never remember - should I use cold packs or heat packs to relieve an injury like this? I did take a couple of ibuprofen, too. |

Ice is always first to bring down the swelling. Although, you may not be able to see any swelling with that type of injury you can be sure there is some inner swelling going on. |

Some do better with ice then heat or the other way around. Others do better with just one and not both. I have fallen on ice before and had a similar issue that laid me up in bed for a few days. |

How can one tell the difference between a slip and pain like this compared to when instead of maybe pinching a nerve you end up with a skipped disk? |
